Overview

Processes change, and your agents should be able to change with them. In WorkLLM you can edit an agent any time, either by hand or by describing the change in plain words. When an agent is no longer needed, you can pause it or delete it. This article covers both ways of editing, what happens after you save a change, version history, and the difference between pausing and deleting. To build an agent first, see Creating, running, and managing agents.

Editing an Agent

You can edit an agent whenever your process changes. You can update its prompt, steps, models, apps, and knowledge. There are two ways to edit an agent: manually, or with AI.

Edit manually

Use this method when you know exactly what you want to change.
  1. Open the agent.
  2. Change what you need, such as a step, a model, or a document.
  3. Save your changes.
  4. Run a test before the next scheduled run.

Edit with AI

Use this method when you prefer to describe the change in plain words instead of editing each part yourself. For example, you can ask for an extra step or a different app for a step.
  1. Open the agent.
  2. Click on Edit → Edit with AI. It opens a chat box on the right side.
  3. Describe the change you want.
  4. Review the updated steps and confirm the change.
  5. Save your changes.
  6. Run a test before the next scheduled run.

What happens after you edit

Anyone in your workspace can use an agent once it is changed and published. Every run uses the current version of the agent. When you update the agent once, every future run reflects the change for everyone.

Version history

When you update an agent’s knowledge, the version history shows both the new and the old documents by name. This helps you see what changed.

Deleting an agent

There are two ways to take an agent out of action, and they are not the same thing.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I edit an agent after it is built?
Yes. You can update its prompt, steps, models, apps, and knowledge whenever your process changes.
  • Should I edit manually or with AI?
Edit manually when you know exactly what you want to change. Use Edit with AI when you would rather describe the change in plain words, for example asking for an extra step or a different app for a step.
  • Do I need to test the agent after I edit it?
Yes. Run a test before the next scheduled run, so you catch anything that is off before the agent runs on its own.
  • Will my change apply to every future run?
Yes. Every run uses the current version of the agent, so when you update it once, every future run reflects the change for everyone in your workspace.
  • Can I see what changed in the agent’s knowledge?
Yes. The version history shows both the new and the old documents by name.
  • Can I stop an agent from running?
Yes, you can pause or turn off an agent without deleting it.
  • What is the difference between pausing and deleting?
Pausing stops the agent from running automatically and keeps the agent. Deleting removes it permanently, so use it only when the agent is no longer needed.
